Supervisors are encouraged to initiate the FFT1/ICT5 taskbook for students prior to attending this class in accordance with NWCG Standards for Wildland Fire Position Qualifications (PMS 310-1) and agency policy.

“Position task books can be initiated before attendance and successful completion of required training. However, Trainees cannot become fully qualified for the position until required training has been successfully completed. A Trainee must be qualified in the prerequisite position(s) before a PTB can be initiated.” - PMS 310-1, November, 2011

Firefighter Type 1 / Incident Commander Type 5 taskbook
A FFT1/ICT5 position taskbook can be initiated by our training specialist with authorization from the student's fire department or home unit.

Satisfactory performance as a Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2)

Successful position performance as a Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) on a wildland fire incident

PHYSICAL FITNESS LEVEL
Arduous

OTHER POSITION ASSIGNMENTS THAT WILL MAINTAIN CURRENCY
Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5)
Any higher position for which this position is a prerequisite
